Innovate on Purpose: Island of misfit ideas

According to a recent Accenture study, executives believe that there must be a mythical land of misfit ideas where good opportunities often die due to the lack of adoption and nurturing. This is because organizations generate relevant ideas that fail to find business lines or leaders who will adopt and nurture them. Prioritization, ownership, and fear are the three main reasons why good ideas aren't adopted and nurtured. Prioritization refers to the fact that a product or service development team within a line of business typically has more work than it can effectively complete. Ownership refers to the reluctance to accept good ideas generated outside of the business line. Fear refers to the reluctance to implement good ideas because they may be too radical and create significant change.
